Sunday Retro

The lovely Nicolette Larson. She arrived in Los Angeles in the mid seventies and instantly became an in-demand background vocalist for most of the brightest stars of the era. Her solo career was launched in 1978 with the album Nicolette and her cover of Neil Young's "Lotta Love" became one of the biggest hits of the year. Easily soaring into Billboard's Top Ten on the Hot 100, the song also topped the Easy Listening chart and became an international hit as well. Nicolette continued making music over the next two decades until her untimely death in 1997, at age 45, from a cerebral hemmorhage. She has been memorialized by her peers in concert and on CD.

Here is an extended disco mix of her biggest hit. Nice groove and a song that one just cannot instantly fall in love with once its mellow sax and flute strains get going.

Rest in peace, Nicolette. We sure do love you.
