Tina Turner Thursday: Foreign Affair

Tina Turner’s 1989 album Foreign Affair was her most commercially successful LP in Europe. Selling even more copies than Private Dancer, Foreign Affair was packed with one great track after another. Here in the US the singles The Best and Steamy Windows were big hits for Ms. Turner from this collection, but across the pond it was the more rocking numbers like Ask Me How I Feel and I Don’t Wanna Lose You that really sold the records.

Foreign Affair, the title track, makes you want to let go and just dance. This mellow number is a real delight. Its arrangement is just delicious, the vocals Tina delivers are unequalled, and the video gives one a taste of the Continent that is inescapable. Foreign Affair is one of those songs that people never get tired of hearing. The beat won’t let you go.

A real treat, anything Tina Turner does is a winner, but this one stands out among the lot. It’s just that good.
